Favorite things: Hound Dog Press

My next career might involve a letterpress machine.

I'm quite smitten with Hound Dog Press, Louisville's only true letterpress print makers. These massive 19th century printing machines, which are operated by hand, use metal tiles to imprint the design and color on thick, textured paper. The Hound Dog crew hand carves the metal tiles for each design, and then makes the prints one at a time, one color at a time. These are some treasures that I found on their website. Should this become my next career, I think I'll be needing some overalls. Should this not become my next career, I think I'll at least be needing some letterpress business cards.
