(These photos were taken by my very talented co-workers.)
This has already been quite the week at work and it's only Tuesday afternoon. This week should be filled with excitement - exams are finally over, graduation festivities are happening and commencement is on Friday. But over the weekend our faculty and student body suffered greatly. We lost a student to stomach cancer, he was a 39-year-old husband, father of two and worship pastor in training, and we lost a student-wife, she was a 29-year-old wife and mother who just didn't wake up on Sunday morning.
For the very few of you who graciously read my blog, please pray for these two families. Please also pray for the 300 or so students who are graduating on Friday. Many of them are headed to pastorates in small churches, many are headed to pastorates in huge cities, some of them will continue on with advanced studies, some of them will sell everything they own and move overseas to join the International Mission Board, and some of them will deal with unemployment. What ever these 300 or so people move onto, change is inevitable for their lives.
With the air being pretty heavy around here, I'm forcing myself to focus on everything I have to be grateful for this week... Drew has one more semester under his belt - just 3 more to go! I have a new office desk - which seems fairly petty - but my last desk didn't accommodate by five-foot long legs. We get to spend some time together this weekend - something that hasn't happened in a while. I don't have to go to BR this week - or ever again! Griffie hasn't attempted death this week. We're both happy and healthy.
