NYC day one

Our team of 18 landed at JFK airport and headed off, bulky luggage in tow, to midtown Manhattan via train and two subway lines. There were some tense moments but we made it - and only put-off a dozen or so New Yorkers in the process.

After settling in at the Metropolitan Baptist Association building on 72nd Street we headed out on foot for dinner. We stumbled upon a newly re-opened Ray's New York Pizza which was near Time's Square. Ray's was featuring $.75 slices! Our dinner of four slices and two bottled waters was $11, and it was fantastic.

After dinner all 18 of us strolled down to Time's Square.

and then, AND THEN, there was Lindy's Cheesecake. It was every bit as good as I remembered it from the summer of 1995, when I first experienced it's wonderfulness.

On the way "home" we looped through Columbus Circle and admired its Christmas lights.

Just crawled into bed and can hear taxis and garbage trucks rolling by - I purposely opted for the bed right next to the window. Goodnight New York
