Tuesday we had a goal to hit the train to New Jersey early. We woke up to about two inches of snow and steady rain, which turned the streets into a mess of toxic slush. While waiting to cross the street a city bus raced by and sprayed us - waist to toe - with a mixture of snow, slush, rain, animal and human waste, street funk and shame. So maybe that was a bit dramatic, but we did have to return "home" and change clothes. We spent the day in the Grace church offices working on their website. Our Hoboken lunch spot, Luca Brasi's Italian Deli, was so New Jersey. They are famous for making mozzarella so we both ordered the Big Pauli, pronounced Da Big Pauuuuli, which was prosciutto de Parma, house-made mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes on fresh Italian bread. Yum.
We had a great dinner at Cafe Frida, a West Side restaurant on Amsterdam. I had a whole bowl of the best guacamole I've ever had (it got messy) and the pineapple marinated pork tacos, Drew had beef fajitas. After dinner I wiped the guacamole out of my hair and we headed out in the snow-slush and visited some 5th Avenue landmarks while seeking out a hot donut and cup o'joe.
