Some observations, good and bad

1. Every female in the NYC-metro area owns fantastic Hunter galoshes. They are almost knee high, making them ideal for managing toxic street slush. I too want a pair - black, grey or brown are the most popular, also seeing a lot of a lovely green around.

PS: the Royal family wears Hunter boots.

2. 99.9% of females in the metro also own UGGS, to which I say GAG. I just can't do it, they're house shoes ladies.

3. I will probably never live in Weehawken, New Jersey, and I'm pretty sure I'm ok with that.

4. Manhattan has a sound, which I can't quite describe, but I love it. It's not the sirens and subways so much, just a constant humming that is oddly soothing.

5. Manhattan can't produce a solid piece of lemon meringue pie. My research (two test cases) has uncovered that Manhattan-ites a) prefer sweet lemon curd instead of tart, b) over whip and over bake the meringue and c) use sponge cake instead of pie crust - a travesty that I just can't even address at this time. I've left unfinished slices of lemon pie at two restaurants, somethin' ain't right.

6. Smile at a New Yorkers and they'll smile back.
