Aa-choo!

So last night Griffie started limping. We don't know how or why, she just started limping. She didn't appear to be in pain, she slept through the night and she was jolly this morning. The vet determined that she has a slight muscle sprain which is easily treatable with a prednisone shot, a 10-day RX of muscle relaxers and minimal activity. Drugs and sleep - those are things that Griffie can handle.

During our consultation the vet said, "so what's going on with Griffie's ears." I looked in her ears and gasped. I won't detail it out, but it was a good thing we were already at the vet's office. Griffie has dealt with ear infections for a long time, we keep a prescription at home and I swab her ears with alcohol on a fairly regular basis. Long story short, Griffie has allergies and apparently overnight they raged. She appears to be allergic to her life. Her ear canals - which are not visible without a fancy veterinarian scope - were so inflamed that they were almost swollen shut. The vet consoled me stating that we're not bad pet-parents, Griffie is just in the middle of a bad flair-up and needs help stat. So sweet Griffie is now on prednisone and muscle relaxers for her bum leg and on daily Zyrtec and ear medicine for her bum respiratory system. Her food is possibly contributing to the problem so we are know on a 30-day cleans to see if her little system gets better, a cleans mean absolutely nothing but a dog food. Her new food is made of venison and at first she gave me the stink-eye, but after trying it is very clear that she enjoys deer meat. She is officially eating the most expensive food at Glenmary D3. Hooray.
