Day 1: slice of heaven

Our group of 10 made it to New York - all intact and with all our luggage. After an orientation at the New York Baptist Association building {our home-base for the week} we headed out for an early dinner at Big Nick's, a Greek-Italian greasy-spoon diner on the Upper West Side. I destroyed my gyro and left Big Nick's fat and happy! We fought the 23° temperatures for a walk down to Times Square and searched for some dessert. We decided to try Junior's - a Brooklyn based legend that opened a Manhattan location. Junior's is known for their cheesecake - so my order was obvious - plain, original, unadulterated New York cheesecake and coffee.

This was some serious calorie laden bliss. Officially the best cheesecake ever - sorry Lindy's.

At $6.50 a slice, it was a steal.

We walked back to our "hotel" in effort to erase some of our caloric-intake shame.

This evening was a great way to kick-off our trip. I remain so thankful to be here with Drew (pictured below being all urban and subway savvy).

Food consumed: Gyro sandwhich from Big Nicks. Coffee and cheese cake from Juniors.
Miles walked: four
